Batteries for headlamp (depends on length of hike)

Battery – power monkey external battery

Battery – spare batteries for the phones

Binoculars

Blankets

Book

Camera with batteries and memory cards

Carabiner to practice climbing knots

Cards (plastic) – drivers licence, debit and credit cards

Cell phone

Clothes - wind and rain proof pants (cycle pants), and jacket, mitts, headband

Compass

Crawdad

Cutting board

Dromedary

Emergency fire starter kit

Emergency food

Fanny pack – (only if there is enough gear to fill it).

Fire starting kit

First aid kit

Flagging – (unless trail is very well defined)

Flares

Food – noodle soup, veggies, hot sauce, muffins, chocolate, cookies, fruit

Frisbee

Fuel

Garbage bag (plastic) for hauling back garbage

Gators – these are a must if there is any water or snow!!  [eg Heather Lake!]

Gels – bring a bunch for emergency food.

Glasses (reading)

Gloves – even if is warm at lower elevations.   Also good for scrambling.

Gps unit and spare batteries (Garmin 78s)

Hand lotion

Hand warmers if  higher elevation

Harmonica

Hats – at least bring ball cap and a touque (never know when you have to overnight)

Headlamp

Headphones

Heater and propane tank

Hiking plan – leave this with someone in case a search is needed

Insect repellent (most often I never use it)

Key – only bring one key for vehicle – store it with vehicle

Hydration bag and some spare water to keep in truck

Knife

Knot book

Large pot to cook soup (aluminum pot for over fire)

Lighters and or matches as a backup to the fire starter kit

Magnifying glass to read maps

Maps – road and trip maps

Money

Multi-tool with knife on it

Napkins

Pen and paper

Plant book

Plastic zip lock bags for misc use

Pot set

Pouch -- cordura nylon zippered pouch (if there is enough gear to fill it)

Space blanket

Spoons

Stove – alcohol with pot set

Stove – biolite (bring clippers to cut fuel into 1 inch pieces)

Sunglasses

Sunscreen

Tank for stove

Tarp and ropes

Tea and milk (regular or condensed)

Toilet paper

Walking poles (2)

Water bottles for everyone (see hydration bag)

Whistle (usually part of the pack)
